How it works

  1. 01

    Upload a PDF

Use a bank or card statement from the US or Canada. We read the file on this device. We do not upload it.

  2. 02

    See your charges

Each charge is sorted into a category. Subscriptions are listed. Bank fees are listed on their own.

  3. 03

See what you can ask the bank

Each bank fee has a yearly estimate from your statement. On Pro, you also get tips on what to say when you call your bank to remove a fee.

Monthly fees, overdraft, card fees, interest, cash machine charges, and late fees. Each one has a yearly estimate from your statement.

A US statement is not converted to Canadian dollars. A Canadian statement is not converted to US dollars.

Eight bank fees you can ask your bank about

Free shows your 3 largest bank fees. Pro shows every bank fee you paid, tips on what to say when you call your bank to remove a fee, and a spreadsheet download. Dollar amounts in the pictures on this page are examples, not a promise of what you will save.

  1. 01

    Monthly account fee

The monthly charge for the bank account itself.

  2. 02

    Returned payment and overdraft

A fee when a payment does not go through, or when the bank covers it and then charges you.

  3. 03

    Yearly card fee

The yearly charge for having the card. You can ask the bank to remove it. They can say no.

  4. 04

    Foreign transaction fee

A fee the card adds on a purchase in another currency.

  5. 05

    Interest

A charge on a balance you have not paid off.

  6. 06

    Insurance sold by your bank

Optional insurance the bank adds, such as balance protection. If the charge stays the same, the yearly figure is that charge times 12.

  7. 07

    ATM fee

A fee for using a cash machine.

  8. 08

    Late fee

A penalty when a payment arrives after the due date. You can ask the bank to remove one. They can say no.

In Canada, if you choose to save them. The PDF itself is never uploaded.
